Lonesome forever.

Lonesome Rose is an all-day bar and restaurant specializing in Tex-Mex-inspired menus. We focus on basics done beautifully; absolutely essential breakfast tacos, the best margaritas around, and a the cheesy, beefy quesorito you didn’t know you needed.

Originally opening in Logan Square in 2017, the restaurant expanded to Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood in 2023. Featuring a light-filled, open and vertiginous design, Lonesome Rose was a finalist for the James Beard Foundation Awards’ ‘Outstanding Design Award’ in 2019, and has been included on Michelin’s ‘Bib Gourmand’ list numerous times since opening.

On weekends, brunch starts at 10am, which is plenty early enough for breakfast tacos and absolutely early enough for a margarita.  And then 2pm rolls around, and suddenly it’s not brunch anymore, just the weekend.  Keep the drinks coming, order some tacos, and see where your day takes you.

Drinks with questionable intentions.

Drinks with questionable intentions.

Our drink program is equally considered - fresh squeezed juices and smoothies anchor the morning hours, giving way to a robust daily cocktail menu that leans toward both classic and contemporary.  We’re talking boozy horchatas, many margaritas - frozen, spicy and more! - micheladas, and ranch waters, all alongside considered offerings of beer, booze, THC-infusions and wines.  Lonesome has a drink for every bad idea that starts with “just one.”  Grab a friend, grab a seat, get a glass and let the afternoon make its own plans.

Absolutely incredible! From the moment the food hit the table, everything looked fresh and packed with flavor. The burrito was stuffed with perfectly seasoned meat, fresh pico de gallo, beans, rice, and all the right toppings—every bite was delicious. The chips were warm, crispy, and paired perfectly with the creamy ... queso, fresh salsa, and homemade guacamole. You can tell everything is made with quality ingredients. And the margarita? Easily one of the best I’ve had! Perfectly chilled, refreshing, with just the right balance of citrus and tequila—not too sweet and incredibly smooth. It was the perfect complement to the meal. Great food, amazing drinks, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere. If you’re craving authentic Mexican food and an outstanding margarita, this place is definitely worth the visit. I’ll absolutely be coming back!

This place is a gem. I thought the menu wasn't very exciting, so we waited a long time to try it out, but everything is awesome. Show up for happy hour, get the Dorado Supreme tacos for 3 bucks (think upscaled taco bell or white-people-taco tacos) and don't sleep on the veggie tostada. Drinks are all awesome, but the ... boozy horchata is mid. Rooftop patio is the best way to eat here but the indoor seating is good too.
